Film Festival: Denver Silent Film Festival, April 10-12, 2026

The 2026 Denver Silent Film Festival will take place on April 10-12th, 2026 at the Sie FilmCenter. The festival will screen several films by women pioneers:

Shoes (1916), produced, directed, and written by Lois Weber, will be screening on April 11th at 3pm followed by a presentation of the David Shepard Award to film historian Shelley Stamp. The Garden of Eden (1928), starring Corinne Griffith, will be screened on April 12th at 3:30pm. Queen Kelly (1929), edited by Viola Lawrence and starring Gloria Swanson, will be shown on April 12th at 6pm.

Additionally, a series of 10 shorts entitled “Breaking Plates and Smashing the Patriarchy” will be screened on April 12th, starting with Karen Pearlman’s Breaking Plates (2023), a contemporary docudrama inspired by Cinema’s First Nasty Women, a collection of silent shorts made in partnership with WFPP.
